Tips for Success:

Uniform Slices: Slice the potatoes evenly to ensure they cook at the same rate.

Don’t Overcook: Parboil the potatoes until just tender—avoid making them too soft, as they’ll continue cooking in the oven.

Perfect Roux: Cook the butter and flour mixture (roux) for at least 2 minutes to avoid a raw flour taste.

Crispy Topping: For an extra crispy crust, broil the dish for the last 2-3 minutes of baking.

Rest Before Serving: Let the casserole sit for 5-10 minutes after baking to allow the sauce to thicken and settle.

Storage & Reheating:

Refrigerate: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Freeze: This dish can be frozen before baking. Assemble it fully, wrap tightly, and freeze for up to 1 month. When ready to bake, thaw overnight in the refrigerator and bake as directed.

Reheat: Reheat in a 350°F (175°C) oven until warmed through, or microwave individual portions for 1-2 minutes.
