This air fryer steak recipe delivers juicy, crisp-edged steak in under 15 minutes. A no-fuss, foolproof method perfect for any night of the week.

Ingredients

  • 2 10 oz steaks (ribeye, New York, or sirloin)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Kosher salt to taste
  • Fresh ground pepper to taste

Instructions

Prep Steaks:

  • Pat steaks completely dry. Season with kosher salt and let them rest at room temperature for 30 minutes.

Preheat Air Fryer:

  • Preheat the air fryer at 400°F for 5 minutes.

Season Again:

  • Pat steaks dry once more. Rub with olive oil, fresh ground pepper, and additional salt if desired.

Cook:

  • Place steaks in a single layer in the air fryer basket.

For medium rare:

  • Cook at 400°F for 10 minutes, flipping halfway.

For medium:

  • Cook for 12 minutes, flipping halfway.

Rest & Serve:

  • Remove from air fryer. Top each steak with ½ tbsp butter and let rest for 5–10 minutes. Slice against the grain and serve.

Notes

Use a meat thermometer for accuracy: 125°F for medium rare, 130°F for medium, and 140°F for medium well before resting.
Let the steak rest before slicing to lock in juices.
