Make Caramel Pecan Dream Bars with a buttery crust, gooey caramel, and pecan topping. A quick, rich, and irresistible dessert perfect for gatherings or weeknight treats.

Ingredients

For the Crust

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Topping

  • 1 cup caramel sauce homemade or store-bought
  • 1 cup pecans chopped

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line with parchment for easy removal.

Make the Crust

  • In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Mix in flour and vanilla extract until a soft dough forms.
  • Press dough firmly and evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.

Bake the Base

  • Bake for 15 minutes, or until lightly golden around the edges.

Add the Caramel Layer

  • Remove crust from oven.
  • Pour caramel sauce evenly over the warm crust and spread gently.

Add the Pecans

  • Sprinkle chopped pecans evenly across the caramel layer, pressing them lightly so they adhere.

Bake Again

  • Return pan to the oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, until the caramel is bubbling and the topping is set.

Cool & Serve

  • Allow bars to cool completely in the pan before slicing. Cut into squares and enjoy.

Notes

Use fresh pecans: They should smell nutty, not stale.
Don’t overbake: This keeps the caramel soft and gooey.
For clean cuts: Chill bars for 20 minutes before slicing.
Homemade caramel = next-level flavor: Use a thick caramel for best texture.
