Chocolate Chip Banana Bars

A thick, chewy, and moist treat that perfectly combines sweet ripened bananas with rich chocolate chips.

Ingredients

  • 3 large overripe bananas mashed
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • ¾ cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips divided

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a 9x9 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, mash the bananas until smooth.
  • Whisk in the melted butter, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla until well combined.
  • Stir in the flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined.
  • Fold in ¾ cup of the chocolate chips.
  • Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan and sprinkle the remaining ¼ cup of chocolate chips on top.
  • Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.
