Delight in the festive flavors of Christmas Ooey Gooey Butter Cookies, a soft and indulgent treat featuring a blend of buttery goodness, cream cheese richness, and bursts of colorful sprinkles. Perfect for the holiday season, these cookies are easy to make and absolutely irresistible!

Ingredients

For 40 Cookies:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon orange extract optional
  • 1 package white cake mix 15.25 oz
  • 1/2 cup sprinkles divided
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

Cream the Butter and Cream Cheese

  • In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together the butter and cream cheese until smooth and fluffy.

Mix in Wet Ingredients

  • Add the egg and, if desired, the almond and orange extracts. Continue mixing until fully incorporated.

Incorporate the Cake Mix

  • Gradually add the white cake mix to the bowl, mixing on low speed until a soft, cohesive dough forms.

Add Sprinkles

  • Gently fold in 1/4 cup of sprinkles, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Chill the Dough

  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or up to 24 hours). Chilling helps firm the dough for easier handling and rolling.

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking sheet by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.

Prepare the Coatings

  • Place the powdered sugar in a small bowl and the remaining 1/4 cup of sprinkles in another.

Form and Coat the Dough Balls

  • Scoop out 1-inch portions of dough and roll them into balls. Lightly press some sprinkles onto each dough ball, then roll them in the powdered sugar until fully coated.

Bake

  • Arrange the coated dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10 minutes or until the edges are set and the tops appear slightly cracked.

Cool the Cookies

  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
