Crispy Fried Mushrooms are the kind of snack that satisfies every crunchy, savory craving in one bite. They’re easy to make, incredibly flavorful, and way better than anything store-bought. Whether you’re cooking for guests or treating yourself, these mushrooms will become a fast favorite.

Ingredients

  • lbs white button mushrooms washed and trimmed
  • ½ cup flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • cups panko bread crumbs
  • tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 tsp marjoram
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

Prep the Mushrooms

  • Gently clean mushrooms and pat dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.

Season the Coating

  • In a bowl, mix panko breadcrumbs with marjoram, Old Bay seasoning, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

Set Up Your Stations

  • Pour buttermilk into a bowl.
  • Add flour to a zip-top bag.

Coat the Mushrooms

  • Add mushrooms to the flour bag and shake until coated.
  • Dip each flour-coated mushroom into the buttermilk using one hand.
  • Roll it in the seasoned panko mixture with your other hand (avoids clumpy fingers!).

Fry the Mushrooms

  • Heat vegetable oil in a Dutch oven to 375°F (190°C). Carefully fry mushrooms in batches for 2–3 minutes, turning occasionally until golden and crisp. Avoid overcrowding.

Drain & Serve

  • Use a slotted spoon to transfer mushrooms to a paper towel or wire rack. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
