Learn how to make Delicious Cruffins — buttery, flaky pastries that blend croissant layers with muffin-style baking. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry thawed if frozen
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup melted unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar for dusting
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional
  • Optional Fillings
  • ½ cup Nutella fruit jam, or cream cheese
  • ¼ cup chopped nuts or mini chocolate chips

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 12-cup muffin tin or line with parchment baking cups.

Prepare the Puff Pastry

  • Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the puff pastry into a thin rectangle.

Brush the surface evenly with melted butter.

  • In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle generously over the pastry.

Fill and Roll

  • For filled cruffins, spread a thin layer of Nutella, jam, or filling of choice across the pastry.
  • Roll the dough tightly into a log, similar to a jelly roll.
  • Slice into 12 equal pieces using a sharp knife or dental floss for clean cuts.

Shape and Bake

  • Place each piece, spiral side up, into the muffin tin.
  • Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes in the pan before transferring to a cooling rack.

Finish and Serve

  • Dust with powdered sugar and drizzle lightly with vanilla extract (optional).
  • Serve warm for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

Keep Ingredients Cold: Cold butter and pastry help achieve flaky, distinct layers.
Don’t Overfill: A small spoonful of filling goes a long way — too much can leak during baking.
Use Silicone Molds: Easier release and even baking compared to metal tins.
Flavor Variations: Try cardamom, nutmeg, or orange zest for a festive twist.
