A tender, juicy roast made with three seasoning packets—no searing needed! Perfect for weeknight dinners or meal prep.

Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 lb boneless chuck roast
  • 1 packet ranch dressing mix 1 oz
  • 1 packet brown gravy mix 0.87 oz
  • 1 packet zesty Italian dressing mix 0.7 oz
  • ½ cup water or low-sodium beef broth

Optional for a one-pot meal:

  • 1 lb baby potatoes halved
  • 2 cups carrots chopped
  • 1 yellow onion sliced

Instructions

Step 1: Prep the Roast

  • Place the chuck roast in the bottom of a slow cooker or Dutch oven. If using vegetables, arrange them around the meat.

Step 2: Season It

  • In a small bowl, mix the three seasoning packets together. Sprinkle evenly over the roast and vegetables, ensuring coverage but not dumping it all in one spot.

Step 3: Add Liquid

  • Pour ½ cup of water or beef broth around the meat—not directly on top—to avoid washing off the seasonings.

Step 4: Let It Cook

  • Slow Cooker: Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4–5 hours, until the roast is fork-tender.
  • Dutch Oven: Cover and bake at 275°F (135°C) for 4–5 hours.

Step 5: Serve

  • Shred the meat with two forks. Serve warm, spooning the natural gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles. Garnish with parsley if desired.
