Ingredients

  • 1  lb ground beef 85/15 or 90/10 lean
  • 1 small yellow onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 3  Tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2  cups beef broth low-sodium
  • 1  Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2  Tbsp butter
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

Brown the Beef

  • In a large skillet warmed to medium heat, cook the ground beef until no longer pink, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat.

Sauté the Onion & Garlic

  • Add chopped onion and sauté for 3–4 minutes until translucent. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Add the Flour

  • Sprinkle the flour over the beef mixture. Stir and cook for 1–2 minutes to eliminate the raw flour taste.

Build the Gravy

  • Slowly pour in beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps. Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.

Simmer to Thicken

  • Bring to a gentle simmer. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the gravy thickens.

Finish with Butter

  • Stir in butter until melted and smooth for a glossy, rich gravy.
