This Edible Red Velvet Cookie Dough is the ultimate late-night indulgence for anyone who has ever been caught sneaking a spoonful of raw dough from the mixing bowl. It captures that classic, slightly cocoa-infused tang of a perfect red velvet cake but transforms it into a dense, fudgy treat that is completely safe to eat by the spoonful.

  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • ½ cup Unsalted butter softened
  • ½ cup Light brown sugar packed
  • ¼ cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp Vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp Red gel food coloring
  • 1-2 tbsp Milk as needed
  • cup Semi-sweet mini chocolate chips
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Heat-treat the flour: Spread flour on a baking sheet and bake at $350^{circ}F$ for 5 minutes. Let cool completely.
  • In a medium bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  • Add the vanilla extract and red food coloring to the butter mixture and blend until the color is even.
  • Whisk together the cooled flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  • Slowly mix the dry ingredients into the butter mixture.
  • Add milk one tablespoon at a time until the dough reaches your preferred consistency.
  • Fold in the mini chocolate chips.
  • Serve immediately or store in the fridge for a chilled treat.
