There is something purely magical about the aroma of Nutella Banana Muffins baking in the oven. It is the kind of scent that can pull even the deepest sleepers out of bed—a heady mix of sweet, ripened bananas and rich, toasted hazelnut cocoa.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3 large overripe bananas mashed
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted and cooled
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar packed
  • 1 large egg room temperature
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • ½ cup Nutella for swirling

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, combine the mashed bananas, melted butter, sugar, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
  • Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups.
  • Place about 1-2 teaspoons of Nutella on top of each muffin. Use a toothpick to swirl it into the batter.
  • Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake part comes out clean.
  • Cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
