Make the creamiest stovetop mac and cheese in just one pot! Sharp cheddar, mozzarella, and cream combine for a rich, cheesy pasta that’s ready in 25 minutes. Perfect comfort food for any night.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups uncooked macaroni or pasta of your choice
  • 3 cups water see notes
  • 3/4 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2.5 cups sharp cheddar freshly grated
  • 2 cups mozzarella freshly grated
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1.5 tbsp paprika adjust to taste
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 1.5 tsp sugar

Instructions

Step 1: Prep Ingredients

  • Grate both the cheddar and mozzarella cheese and measure out all the seasonings. This makes the cooking process smooth and quick.

Step 2: Cook the Pasta

  • In a large pot, add the uncooked macaroni and pour in the water. Place over medium-high heat and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and cook according to package directions until al dente. Allow most of the water to evaporate but leave a little in the pot—this will help create the base for the sauce.

Step 3: Make it Creamy

  • Turn the heat to low. Add the heavy cream, cheddar, mozzarella, and all seasonings (salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, mustard, and sugar). Stir until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy.

Step 4: Taste and Serve

  • Adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot, garnished with extra cheese, paprika, or fresh herbs if desired.
