Aloo paratha recipe is one of india's popular flatbread recipes where spicy potato filling stuffed in a dough of whole wheat flour then fried in butter or ghee. Must try this potato stuffed paratha at home.

Aloo Paratha Ingredients

  • 300 grams whole wheat flour [atta]
  • 1 tbsp salt[adjust if required]
  • 4 tbsp oil
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • Water required for kneading the dough
  • 4 medium size mashed potatoes
  • 1 tbsp chopped green chili
  • 1 medium size onion [chopped]
  • 3 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp kashmiri red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp amchur powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp ajwain

Instructions

  • At first, preparing stuffing for aloo paratha wash medium size potatoes,boil them in a pressure cooker up to 4 to 5 whistles.
  • Next, cool the potatoes peel, and mash them.
  • Next in a mixing bowl add mashed potatoes, chopped green chili, onions, coriander leaves.
  • Also sprinkle half a teaspoon of garam masala powder,kashmiri red chili powder, amchur powder, black salt, cumin powder,coriander powder,ajwan.
  • Furthermore add chopped green chili, onions, coriander leaves, ginger garlic paste mix them all together.
  • Now for making dough for paratha pour whole wheat flour or atta in a large mixing bowl.
  • Sprinkle a pinch of salt, a tablespoon of oil mix them together.
  • Furthermore pour water in intervals and knead the dough thoroughly until it becomes soft and nonstick.
  • After that apply a tablespoon of oil to the dough, rest it at least 30 min.
  • Now for filling cut the dough into equal size make a circular ball inside deep.
  • Then add potato mixture, bring the edges together, and sealed it by adding a little water.
  • Now dust some flour on the table and roll the paratha using a rolling pin in a medium-thick circular shape.
  • Then transfer this aloo paratha on hot girdle or Tawa.
  • Cook both sides of paratha for 1 min in medium-high flame.
  • Now apply butter on both sides of the paratha, gently press them with a spatula and cook until golden brown spots visible on the paratha.

Notes

Aloo Paratha Recipe Note

  1. If you want to make aloo paratha with a combination of both atta and maida, make sure to use a 1:1 ratio;for example 300 gram mixture it will be 150 grams atta and 150 grams maida.
  2. After preparing aloo paratha serve them hot immediately,otherwise it does not tastes good.
