Chilli paneer recipe is the most popular indo-chinese appetizer in which fried paneer cube is tossed in spicy chili sauce. This restaurant style chilli paneer recipe is used to make both chilli paneer dry and chilli paneer gravy versions.

Ingredients

Marinating Ingredients For Chilli Paneer

  • 3 tbsp corn flour or corn starch
  • 3 tbsp all purpose flour or maida
  • 1 tsp kashmiri red chili powder or lal mirch powder.
  • 1 tsp black pepper powder or kali mirch powder.
  • 200 to 250 gm paneer cube or indian cottage cheese.
  • 1/6 th tsp salt [adjust as per requirement].
  • 1 to 2 tbsp water.

Other Chilli Paneer Ingredients

  • 5 to 6 tbsp oil [adjust as per need]
  • 1 medium-size onion layer separated
  • 1 medium-size capsicum or simla mirch [square cut]
  • 2-3 green chilies or hari mirch sliced vertically.
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped ginger-garlic paste.
  • 3 to 4 tbsp red chili sauce.[adjust as per need].
  • 1 tbsp soya sauce.
  • 1 tbsp vinegar.
  • salt to taste.
  • ½ to 1 tsp sugar.[adjust as per need]
  • 1 to 1 ½ cup water as per need.
  • 3 tbsp spring onions.

Instructions

  • How to make chilli paneer
  • First, for preparing restaurant style chilli paneer recipe, In a small bowl add corn flour, maida, red chili powder, black pepper powder, salt, and sprinkle a little water.
  • Now, add a fresh paneer cube to the bowl and coat evenly.
  • After that, heat oil in a pan and gently fry coated
    paneer cube in medium to low flame.
  • Now, frying up to 2 minutes flip them and fry another part
    till it becomes slightly golden brown.
  • When both sides become slightly golden brown take out the fried paneer from the pan and drain off the excess oil in kitchen tissue.
  • Now, for preparing dry paneer chilli, in the same pan, heat oil and saute ginger garlic paste until it’s raw smell is gone.
  • Then, add a layer of the separated onion, square cutting capsicum, and green chilli and saute them in medium flame till the layer of the onion becomes slightly golden.
  • Furthermore, add chilli paneer sauce which is a mixture of vinegar, red chilli sauce, soy sauce, black pepper, and red chilli powder.
  • Now, pour the cornflower with water mixture into the pan and stir them very well at high temperatures.
  • Add salt as per requirement.
  • Now, to prepare chilli paneer to dry just cook till the chilli gravy sauce thickness.
  • If you want chilli paneer gravy then add a little water and proportionally increase the sauce and salt amount.
  • Next, add fried paneer to this chilli gravy mix them well, and left it for simmer 2-3 min for good flavour.
  • Finally, garnish with spring onions and coriander leaves and mix them well in this chilli paneer gravy.
  • So, we prepare a tasty delicious paneer chilli recipe and serve it hot with naan, roti, fried rice, or noodles.

Chilli paneer recipe note

  1. Adjust the amount of water depending upon your requirement to make dry chilli paneer or gravy chilli paneer recipe.
  2. While frying paneer don’t over-fry paneer because it becomes hard.
  3. If you want restaurant style chilli paneer don't make bat runny batter for coating the paneer cube.
