Onion pakoda recipe or Pyaz pakora is a very popular North Indian snack dish which is usually made by mixing gram flour with sliced onions, spices and herbs. To make these crispy onion pakora must follow the below step-by-step instructions.

Ingredients

Ingredients for onion pakoda

  • 2 large size chop onions
  • 3 tablespoons of freshly chopped coriander leaves
  • 3 to 4 chopped green chilies
  • 2 teaspoons ginger garlic paste
  • 200 grams gram flour or besan
  • 4 tablespoons of semolina
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ajwain
  • Dash of water
  • 500 ml oil for deep fry

Instructions

  • Preparing batter for onion pakora
  • At first, for preparing the batter for onion pakora, in a mixing bowl add chop onions, freshly chopped coriander leaves, chopped green chili and ginger garlic paste
  • Now add gram flour or besan, semolina, pinch of salt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala powder, ajwain
  • After that mix everything with a spoon, first you will get dry mixture.
  • Now pour required amaount of water at intervals, and mix with dough to make a moist dough.

  • Now to fry onion pakoda pour oil into a deep bottom pan or Kadai.
  • When oil becomes medium hot, gently deep fry onions pakoda in medium flame until they become crispy and golden brown from both side.
  • Finally our onion pakoda recipe is completed take them out from the kadai and serve it hot with tomato ketchup, coriander chutney whatever you like.

  1. You can adjust the spice level by increasing and decreasing dry kashmiri red chilies.
  2. Always use good quality fresh gram flour. Because sometimes old gram flour tastes bitter.
