Ingredients

  • 150 grams thick poha or flattened rice
  • 2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons ghee or clarified butter
  • 8 to 10 split cashews
  • 3 tablespoons peanuts
  • 2 medium size potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 teaspoons mustard seed
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seed
  • pinch of hing
  • 8 to 10 fresh curry leaves
  • 1 medium size chopped onions
  • 3 vertically sliced green chili
  • 10 to 12 cashew nut
  • 2 tablespoons peanut
  • Pinch of hing

  • 1/8 teaspoon turmeric powder

  • 2 teaspoons sugar

Instructions

  • Preparation for kanda poha
  • At first for preparing poha recipe in a pan melt ghee or clarified butter on low flame.
  • Next, saute cashews and peanuts in low flame until they become slightly golden and crunchy.
  • Besides, also boil potatoes and cut them into small pieces.
  • Tempering for kanda batata poha
  • Now temper spices for kanda batata poha in a pan heat oil then saute mustard seed, cumin seed , pinch of hing in low flame till the crackling sound of mustard seed.
  • Now add fresh curry leaves and saute them till they become crispy.
  • Also add chopped onions, vertically sliced green chili saute them till become soft and translucent.
  • After that add preboiled potatoes, roasted nuts, turmeric powder, a pinch of salt, sugar, saute them in high flame for 1 to 2 min.
  • How to make poha
  • Now to cook poha recipe in a large bowl put a strainer then add thick poha or flattened rice.
  • After that rinse the poha well with water, drain all of the water immediately, otherwise they will absorb a lot of water and become mushy.
  • Next sprinkle lemon juice, salt and gently mix with lift and drop method.
  • Finally add poha in the pan and gently stir in between in low flame and our kanda batata poha recipe is completed.

  1. Never ever soak poha in water for more than 1 min otherwise your poha becomes mushy.
