Enjoy a creamy Swedish meatball noodle bake with homemade meatballs, rich sauce, gooey cheese, and egg noodles. Hearty, cheesy, and easy to make.

Ingredients

For the Meatballs

  • ½ onion finely chopped
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • ½ tsp black pepper

For the Casserole

  • 1 pint heavy whipping cream
  • cups egg noodles
  • cups Swiss cheese grated
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

Preheat Oven

  • Heat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Mix & Shape Meatballs

  • In a mixing bowl, combine all the meatball ingredients except the olive oil. Knead gently until everything is well incorporated.
  • Form the mixture into evenly sized meatballs.

Sear Meatballs

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium‑high heat.
  • Sear the meatballs until browned on all sides and cooked through. Remove and set aside.

Prepare Sauce

  • In the same skillet, add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and heavy cream. Simmer until thickened slightly. Season with salt and pepper.

Cook Noodles & Assemble

  • Cook egg noodles according to package instructions. Drain well.
  • Spread noodles in the bottom of a well greased 9×13‑inch baking dish.
  • Add the meatballs on top of the noodles. Pour the creamy sauce over everything. Sprinkle the Swiss cheese evenly over the top.

Bake & Rest

  • Bake for about 20‑25 minutes, until cheese is melted and golden.
  • Let the dish rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Garnish & Serve

  • Garnish with chopped parsley.
  • Serve hot.
