To get rid of fruit flies use this homemade fruit fly trap, first remove the cap from a bottle then pour a little amount of apple cider vinegar into a glass jar, then cover the opening mouth with plastic wrap and seal the edges with a rubber band.

Now, poke a few small holes for the fruit flies to enter into a glass jar the vinegar will attract the fruit flies, and once they’re inside, they won’t be able to escape the plastic wrap barrier.

This is very effective to keep flies away from the kitchen.

Mixture of vinegar and dish soap trap

If you don’t have plastic wrap in your kitchen, you can use a mixture of apple cider vinegar and dish soap to trap fruit flies.

For this in a bowl of apple cider vinegar add a few drops of dish soap, mix it well and leave it uncovered.

The smells of the apple cider vinegar attract the fruit flies, as the dish soap works to decrease the surface tension of the liquid,

consequently, the fruit flies become immersed immediately and are unable to escape from the solution.

Try beer or red wine trap

Just like vinegar fruit flies love the smell of fermenting beer or red wine. You can use them to trap fruit flies.

For this just keep a bottle of old red wine or stale beer near where the fruit flies were spotted.

The smells lured them inside the bottles, but the narrow neck of the bottle prevent them to go out easily from the bottle.

If possible you can also add a few drops of dishwasher soap in it to decrease the surface tension of the liquid, ultimately fruit flies immersed easily inside the solutions.

Rotten fruit trap for fruit flies

If you have rotten fruit in your pantry don’t throw it away use it to trap for fruit flies.

For this in a jar pour some rotten fruit and add a small amount of apple cider vinegar with it.

Now, create a cone from paper and place the tapered end into the jar or you can plastic wrap the bottle’s mouth and poke some holes in it.

The smell attracts fruit flies inside the jar but the paper cone or plastic wrap prevents them to go outside.
