What is shahi paneer made of ?
Shahi paneer is made of paneer cube simmered in rich,creamy makhani gravy,which is the mixture of a few indian spices,tomato,onion,ginger garlic,green-chili,almond,cashew,cream and butter.

Because both of these recipes are made of the same ingredients. But the main difference is the amount of using spices.
In paneer butter masala we use more spices and recipes become more rich but in shahi paneer we use comparatively less spice.
Tips To Make Best Shahi Paneer Recipe
- Choice Of Paneer: Shahi paneer is prepared best both of store-bought and homemade paneer but if you use store bought paneer then before using keep them in hot water for 10 to 15 min.
- Choice Of Tomatoes: To avoid any tanginess in your shahi paneer gravy use red colour ripe tomatoes.
- Vibrant Colour: To get vibrant colour of restaurant style shahi paneer without using any food colour,we simply use good quality kashmiri red chili powder which is available in our pantry.

Recipe of Shahi paneer step by step with photo?
The complete preparation process of shahi paneer recipe classified into three simple categories,
first one is making smooth puree,second one making tomato-onion paste,
the last one is preparing rich creamy shahi paneer gravy.
so,lets make it now.
Making Smooth Puree
1. For making smooth shahi puree halved or cubed cut tomatoes.
2.Similarly chopped or cubed cut the onions.
3.Now Heat 3 to 4 tbsp oil in a pan.
4.spread the oil evenly in the pan.
5.Add 1 tbsp chopped ginger garlic.
6.saute in medium flame until raw smell completely disappear.
7.2 to 3 vertically sliced green chili saute for another 30 sec.
8.Then,add halved or cubed cut tomatoes,
9.Add cubed cut onions and saute in medium flame for 2 to 3 min.
10.Also add cashew,almond,cardamom and make a quick stir for another 2 to 3 min.
11.Now pour 200 to 250 ml water to boil this mixture until skin of tomatoes easily removed.
12.Add a 1 tsp salt adjust later if required later.
13.For vibrant colour just like restaurant style shahi paneer add 1 tsp kashmiri red chili powder.
Note:If your tomatoes are little bit tangy then you can add sugar to balance out flavour,otherwise it is not required.
14.Cover the pan with lid and simmer for 15 to 20 min.
Making Tomato-Onion Paste
1.After boiling the mixture when you can easily removes skins of tomatoes,turn off the flame and cool down the mixture.pour this mixture into grinder to make smooth paste.
2.Now strain out this paste from strainer to eliminate unblended skins of tomatoes.
3.It is not compulsory but this smooth paste will enhances flavours of shahi paneer.
Preparing Shahi Paneer Gravy
1.Now,add 2 to 3 tbsp good quality butter in a pan.
2.Always melt the butter in low flame unless it will burn.
3.Now for making authentic shahi paneer recipe add only a few spices including bayleaf,clove,cardamom,cinnamon,cumin seed and saute in medium flame upto 1 min.
4.Furthermore add chopped ginger-garlic,green chili in pan.
5.Now,saute them in medium flame until raw smell of them goes away.
6.After that pour smooth tomato-onion puree.
7.Now,gently mix the puree in the butter upto 2 to 3 min in medium flame.
8.Then add,1 tsp coriander powder,kashmiri red chili powder,1/6 tsp turmeric powder,salt to taste.
9.Cook until gravy becomes thick and butter begins to leave side of the pan then add a little water cover the pan and simmer for another 3 to 4 min.
10.Finally mix fresh paneer cube in this shahi gravy.
11.Stir gently this gravy for 1 to 2 min in low flame.
12.Finally,for restaurant style shahi paneer add cream.
13.Gently mix without breaking paneer cube for another 1 min in low flame.
14.Furthermore for garnishing shahi paneer sprinkle some freshly chopped coriander leaves and creams on top on gravy.
